WMU opens one-stop service center for students and parents

The temporary One Stop Convenience Center will be assembled in the West Ballroom on the second floor of the Bernhard Center for two weeks, Aug. 27 through Sept. 7, closing over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1–3.

Julie M. Christensen obituary

Julie M. Christensen, a secretary and office associate at WMU for 18 years, died Aug. 15 at age 54. A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 20.

George Coy obituary

George Coy, a former tradesman in Facilities Management, died Aug. 9 at age 84. A memorial service with full military honors will be held at Fort Custer at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28.

Cameron W. Lambe obituary

Dr. Cameron W. Lambe, professor emeritus of education and professional development, died Aug. 11 at age 87.

Men's soccer to hold walk-on tryouts this fall

Bronco men's soccer team to hold walk-on tryouts at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, at the WMU Soccer Complex on Parkview Avenue. Only current, full-time WMU students may try out for varsity athletic teams.

Trustees approve new three-year AFSCME contract

Under the new contract, which becomes effective Aug. 12, wages for union members will rise 1 percent retroactive to July 1. An additional 1 percent increase will be implemented in January 2013.

Softball trio named Academic All-MAC

Tara Buchanan, of Kingsford Heights, Ind.; Courtney Rousseau, of Bay City, Mich.; and Jennifer Tschetter, of Scottsdale, Ariz., are the first trio to earn Academic All-MAC in the same season since 2004.
