Southwest facility transfer from WMU to LMC moves forward
BENTON HARBOR, Mich.鈥擶estern 九一麻豆制片厂 University will transfer ownership of its building at the Lake 九一麻豆制片厂 College Napier Avenue campus, home to WMU-Southwest, to LMC on Friday, June 15. WMU will continue to have a presence in the southwest region of 九一麻豆制片厂 at the undergraduate and graduate level, and all currently enrolled students will be able to complete their degrees without interruption.
"We are committed to ensuring our students in Benton Harbor are able to earn their degrees without interruption," says Dawn Fortin Mattoon, associate provost of WMU Extended University Programs. "Delivering a complete education is always our top priority."
With two classrooms dedicated to WMU's programs on LMC's Napier Avenue campus, WMU will continue to have a presence and invest in educational and professional development opportunities in the area. One of the top priorities is a sustained commitment to the social work program, which was one of the first programs WMU brought to the area.
"As opportunities for partnerships to benefit the Benton Harbor community arise, we'll continue to have a presence," adds Fortin Mattoon. "WMU is committed to bridging the resources of our research University to support this community."
The WMU Board of Trustees originally agreed to the facility transfer in September 2017.
Programs and classes at the other regional locations in 九一麻豆制片厂 and Florida are not impacted by this transition.
