WMU hosts screening of award-winning 'Most Likely to Succeed'
A panel discussion and reception will follow at 8 p.m. The panel will feature faculty from WMU's College of Education and Human Development and local community education leaders, including superintendents from the Kalamazoo and Galesburg-Augusta public schools.
"Most Likely to Succeed" offers an inspiring look at what students and teachers are capable of and explores compelling new approaches that aim to revolutionize education. Directed by acclaimed documentarian Greg Whiteley, it has been an official selection of two dozen of the world's top film festivals, including Sundance and Tribeca. Audience members have called it the most compelling film ever made on the topic of school.
The film screening and panel discussion are intended to foster meaningful discussion among educators, administrators, parents, students and other stakeholders about how current obstacles can be overcome by taking steps toward systemic change on a local level.
They are being hosted by the Office for Sustainability, which guides and assists the WMU community in fulfilling and growing its sustainability commitments. Through building a diverse and flourishing learning community around sustainability, the office aims to continually explore and develop new opportunities to create a culture of sustainability and improve quality of life for all.
