Award-winning musicians team up for free concert at WMU
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擜ward-winning duo Danielle Breisach and Yana Avedyan will be at Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall for a free concert.
The Madison-based duo will be performing recently published works for flute and piano by American composer Eric Ewazen and Mexican composer Samuel Zyman. Additionally, Breisach, who is a WMU alumna, will be performing solo works on alto flute and Baroque flute by Philippe Hersant and Georg Philipp Telemann.

Breisach and Avedyan have been performing together since 2011, when they joined forces to win the Irving Shain Woodwind-Piano Competition at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since their debut performance, they have presented numerous recitals together.
Breisach holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Master of Music and Bachelor of Music Education from WMU. She currently maintains a private studio of more than 30 highly successful students in Madison. Breisach has participated in performances, masterclasses and festivals in the United States, Canada, Italy, and China including the Bay View Music Conservatory, Le Domaine Forget, and the Banff Centre. She has performed with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra and Kalamazoo Philharmonia, among others.
Avedyan is a DMA candidate in piano performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Originally from Kharkov, Ukraine, she holds a Master of Music from UW-Madison and a Bachelor of Music degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. A consummate performer, Avedyan works with numerous organizations in the Madison area in addition to maintaining a private studio. Recently, she won the 29th annual Beethoven Piano Competition and was a finalist in the annual Concerto Competition at UW-Madison..
