Most offices closed Thanksgiving weekend

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擡xcept for essential and emergency services, Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University offices will be closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 24-27, for the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Thanksgiving recess officially begins at noon Wednesday, Nov. 23, and there are no afternoon or evening classes Wednesday. WMU offices will remain open Wednesday afternoon.

Classes resume at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28.

Public events

Public events scheduled on campus during the holiday weekend include:

  • Friday, Nov. 25, 5 p.m., Bronco football vs. Toledo at Waldo Stadium. Tickets: wmubroncos.com or (888) 4-WMU-TIX.
  • Saturday, Nov. 26, 2 p.m., Bronco men's basketball vs. Central Arkansas at University Arena. Tickets: wmubroncos.com or (888) 4-WMU-TIX.
  • Saturday, Nov. 27, 8 p.m, "Mannheim Steamroller Christmas," at Miller Auditorium. Ticket prices vary.

hours for WMU offices and services

Students and the public are encouraged to call ahead to make sure that a particular office on campus is open. For emergencies only, contact WMU Public Safety at (269) 387-5555.

Many offices, including Admissions, Bronco Express, financial aid and First-Year Experience programs will be closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 24-27.

Bernhard Center and Bronco Mall close at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, and will remain closed Thursday through Saturday. Most retail locations will close at 5 p.m. Wednesday; Biggby Coffee, Santorini Island Grill and the Bernhard Center Caf茅 and Market will close at 2 p.m. Wednesday. The Bernhard Center will be open 10:30 a.m. to midnight Sunday, and Subway will be open reduced hours 3 to 11 p.m. All other offices and Bronco Mall stores will be closed until Monday morning. Bronco Transit buses will stop running at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, and will resume normal operations Monday, Nov. 28.

Sindecuse Health Center, including the pharmacy, is closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 24-27. Medical emergencies should be referred to local hospitals or other health care providers.

Student Recreation Center closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, is closed Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 24-26, and is open from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 27. The recreation center resumes normal hours Monday, Nov. 28, at 6 a.m.

Unified Clinics are open normal hours Wednesday, Nov. 23, and closed Thursday through Sunday, Nov. 24-27.

All WMU Libraries close at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, and remain closed Thursday, Nov. 24 . Waldo is open noon to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and open from noon Sunday to 2 a.m. Monday. The Swain Education and Maybee Music Libraries remain closed through Saturday and are open Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m. Archives remains closed through Sunday. Campus computing

The Help Desk closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, and will remain closed Thursday through Saturday, and reopens at noon Sunday, Nov. 27. The Mobile Help Desk is closed Wednesday, Nov. 23, through Saturday, Nov. 26, and reopens at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 27.

Bernhard Computing Center in the Bronco Mall closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, is closed Thursday through Saturday, and reopens at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27.

University Computing Center lab closes at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, is closed Thursday through Saturday, and reopens at noon Sunday, Nov. 27.

Energy savings

To reduce energy costs while the University is closed, heating and cooling systems in all office and classroom buildings controlled by the WMU Building Energy Management System will be in holiday mode. Air handlers will not run during this time, unless a space is exempt from the program or the temperature in a particular space goes outside of the range of 60 to 85 degrees. Portions of a particular building that do not normally go into night setback mode will not go into holiday mode.
