Retirement planning program set for employees, retirees

Are you ready for retirement?
KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擶estern's Association of Retired Faculty invites Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University employees considering retirement or retirees interested in a financial refresher to attend a talk on "Essentials of a Successful Investment Strategy."

The two-part program will be presented on consecutive Fridays. Part I is set for Nov. 11 and Part II for Nov. 18. Both sessions will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in 1010 Health and Human Services Building.

The presenter will be Dr. Ahmed Issa, a certified financial planner and WMU professor emeritus of finance and commercial law.

Topics to be covered

During "Essentials of a Successful Investment Strategy," Issa will explore basic elements of investing for retirement. Topics will include:

  • Managing finances in preparation for retirement.
  • Selecting a financial advisor.
  • Consolidating and diversifying investments.
  • Minimizing investing costs and taxes.
  • Avoiding outliving your money.

Preparation materials

Those planning to attend the program are asked to visit the WARF website at and read the documents posted under "What's New."

Three of the posted documents, Financial Atrocities, Countdown to Retirement and Pre-Retirement Checklist will prepare attendees for the sessions. Essentials of a Successful Investment Strategy provides an overview of the program and the presenter.
