2010 Stulberg Gold Medalist to join WMU orchestra for performance

KALAMAZOO, Mich.鈥擳he Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University Symphony Orchestra will present the first concert of the 2016鈥17 season at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at Miller Auditorium. Admission is free. The concert will feature talented cello soloist Richard Narroway, the 2010 Gold Medalist of the Stulberg International String Competition.

Narroway will perform the 鈥淰ariations on a Rococo Theme鈥 for cello by Tchaikovsky. The concert opens with the Karelia Overture by Sibelius. It was one of his earliest and most successful compositions that celebrates Finnish folk music. The program will also feature the entire 鈥淣utcracker Ballet鈥 by Piotr Illyich Tchaikovsky.

The WMU orchestra will perform the Nutcracker with the Moscow Ballet company at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in Miller Auditorium.
