Dr. David F. Sadler, a Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University professor emeritus of English, died March 5. He was 93.

Sadler, of Kalamazoo, joined the WMU staff in 1955 and retired in 1984 after 29 years of service to the University.

During his tenure, he served stints as chair of the Department of English, vice president and president of WMU's chapter of the American Association of University Professors, and president of the Inter-faculty Council.

His research interests included pictorial images, such as photographs and political cartoons. In fact, Sadler became seriously interested in photography in the late 1960s. He developed his own black-and-white photos and displayed them at shows both on and off campus. He later turned to digital photography and enjoyed sharing his many photos through this medium.

Prior to coming to WMU, Sadler taught at Hamline University, the University of Minnesota and the General Motors Institute of Technology. He earned a bachelor's degree from Antioch College in 1947 and a master's and doctoral degree from U of M in 1948 and 1954, respectively.

Service

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, in People's Church, 1758 N. 10th St. in Kalamazoo.
