Alumnus and CEO to speak at next Entrepreneurship Forum

KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The CEO and co-founder of Zipments, an online software and service platform, will be the next speaker at the Entrepreneurship Forum speaker series at Western ¾ÅÒ»Â鶹ÖÆƬ³§ University’s Haworth College of Business.

Garrick Pohl, who earned bachelor's and master's degrees from WMU in 1995 and 2000, will speak at 8 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13, in 2150 Schneider Hall. The event is free and open to the public and begins with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (269) 387-6059 or at wmich.edu/business/e-rsvp. Free parking is available in the Fetzer Center lot, 72F.

Zipments

Zipments' software connects local delivery providers with businesses and consumers in need of local delivery services. Zipments is helping to revitalize and retool the courier industry with innovative technology and a collaborative, crowdsourcing model. Zipments’ mission is to improve the service of local, same-day delivery by providing greater transparency, efficiency and cost savings to the market.

Garrick Pohl

Pohl began his career in the automotive industry, working for Johnson Controls, where he helped grow the company’s Asian business portfolio by bringing in more than $1 billion in new sales. Prior to Zipments, Pohl served as CEO of Crayon Interface, a pioneer in mobile applications and fleet management systems. At Crayon Interface his team created the first mobile application for one of the world’s largest overnight carriers and created several applications to help fleet operators better manage the cost and efficiency of delivery service vehicles.
