'Sister Act' comes to Miller Auditorium
KALAMAZOO, Mich.--Direct from Broadway, "Sister Act", the hilarious, five-time Tony-nominated musical smash, is coming to is coming to Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University's Miller Auditorium for performances at 3 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.

"Sister Act" is based on the eponymous motion picture written by Joseph Howard in which disco diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder and is put into protective custody in a convent. Disguised as a nun, Deloris finds herself at odds with the rigid lifestyle and the uptight Mother Superior. After inspiring the choir with her killer voice and star-power, Deloris breathes new life into the church, but in doing so blows her cover, and it's up to her fellow nuns to to provide salvation.
Produced by Whoopi Goldberg, Troika Entertainment and Sister Act On Tour, "Sister Act" received five 2011 Tony Award nominations including Best Musical, Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical.
The comedy musical features an original score -- with a vast inspiration of musical styles from Motown, soul and funk, disco and Barry White -- by multi-Academy, Grammy and Golden Globe Award-winning composer Alan Menken (Little Shop of Horrors, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and Enchanted); lyrics by Tony and Academy Award-nominee Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid); and a book by multi-Emmy Award winners Cheri and Bill Steinkellner (鈥淐heers鈥).
