Trustees to consider labor contracts, central dispatch agreement
KALAMAZOO, Mich.--The Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University Board of Trustees will consider approval of a new contract with WMU's faculty union--the American Association of University Professors--as well as a new labor agreement with members of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees when it meets Tuesday, Sept. 30.
Meeting in formal session at 1 p.m. in Rooms 157-59 of the Bernhard Center, the board will consider a new three-year contract with the WMU chapter of AAUP. A tentative agreement was reached Sept. 5, just as the old contract was set to expire. Union members voted to ratify the new contract Sept. 19. If approved by the board, the new contract will be effective Sept. 6, 2014, through Sept. 5, 2017.
Also on the agenda for the board to consider is a new three-year contract with the union that represents a small number of independent stage workers for major productions at WMU venues such as Miller Auditorium. The 10-member group ratified the agreement in a July 30 vote. The contract is effective July 1, 2014, through June 30, 2017.
In addition, WMU trustees are slated to review a recommendation to authorize the University to join the Kalamazoo County Consolidated Dispatch Authority, a countywide central dispatch system that would include the public safety operations of WMU and four Kalamazoo County governmental units. Also on the agenda are recommendations to approve a name for a new residence-hall complex, which is now under construction at the center of campus, and approve a capital-outlay, priority request. The latter item is a five-year, priority-ordered list of capital projects that all 九一麻豆制片厂 public universities are required to provide to the state.
The board also will be asked to consent to a number of other items such as gift and grant reports, personnel moves and two on-campus lease agreements. In addition the board will receive an investment performance report.
