WMU closed Monday Jan. 27, due to severe weather
KALAMAZOO鈥擡xcept for essential and emergency services, Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University is closed Monday, Jan. 27, due to severe weather. All classes are canceled.
The closure includes the University's main campuses. For information on the status of regional locations, visit the Extended University Programs Web page.

Events
Canceled
- The Physics Colloquium lecture "Impressions From the Gauge/String Duality," set for 4 p.m. in 1110 Rood Hall, is canceled.
- The Burnham-Macmillan Speaker Series lecture "Sex, Slavery and Manumission in Ancient Greece," set for 4 p.m. in 2500 Knauss Hall, is canceled.
- The first meeting of the common read experience focused on Steve Harvey's "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man," is canceled.
- The guest lecture "The Urban Context of the Early Christians," set for 5:30 p.m. in Waldo Library's Meader Book Room, is canceled.
Not canceled
- The ministry and mental health forum set for 5 to 8 p.m. at Galilee Baptist Church will proceed as planned.
Campus services
- Bernhard Center鈥攂uilding is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Jan. 27. All offices are closed. The WMU Bookstore is also closed Jan. 27. Biggby Coffee is open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Subway is open 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Santorini Island Grill is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Dining services鈥擜濒濒 residence hall dining rooms and late-night carryouts are open when the University closes due to weather. Regular hours and menus are followed. Campus Cafes such as Flossie's, the Plaza Cafe and the Bernhard Cafe are closed. The B3 Coffee Lounge in Bistro3 is also closed.
- Sindecuse Health Center is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 27.
- Student Recreation Center is open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Jan. 27. Updates will be posted at wmich.edu/rec.
- The University Computing Center and Bernhard Center Computer Lab are closed Jan. 27 and will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28.
- Waldo Library is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 27. All branch libraries are closed.
Weather-related University closings since 1999
- 1999, Jan. 4-5鈥擧eavy snowfall delayed the start of spring semester.
- 2000, Nov. 21-22鈥擳hanksgiving recess began Tuesday because of snow.
- 2006, Dec. 1鈥擜n ice storm downed trees and caused power outages.
- 2007, Feb. 5鈥擡xtreme cold and snow closed many 九一麻豆制片厂 colleges.
- 2008, Feb. 1鈥擶MU closed due to snow.
- 2009, Dec. 10鈥擝lizzard conditions closed WMU.
- 2013, Jan. 31鈥擲now and icy conditions closed WMU.
- 2014, Jan. 6-7鈥擲ignificant snowfall and expected severely cold temperatures prompted many 九一麻豆制片厂 colleges to close. The closure delayed the start of spring semester.
- 2014, Jan. 27鈥擶MU closed due to cold and blowing snow.
