Munley elected chair of 九一麻豆制片厂 Board of Counseling

KALAMAZOO鈥擜 Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University faculty member is the new chair of the 九一麻豆制片厂 Board of Counseling.

Dr. Patrick H. Munley, professor and chair of WMU's Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology, was elected to the post in October. He will serve until September 2014.

The 九一麻豆制片厂 Board of Counseling has both a regulatory and disciplinary responsibility to oversee the practice of more than 9,000 professional counselors in 九一麻豆制片厂. It consists of 11 voting members, one of whom is a mental health professional while the others are professional counselors and members of the public.

Munley was appointed to the body by Gov. Rick Snyder in 2011 to represent individuals who are engaged primarily in counseling-related teaching, training or research. He is in the third year of a four-year term.

In his WMU position, Munley is responsible for academic program development and administration as well as budget management and recruitment and development within the counselor education and counseling psychology department.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Counseling Psychology and the American Psychological Association. In addition, he previously served as president of AACP and as a counseling psychology examiner for the American Board of Counseling Psychology.

Munley earned a bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University, and master's and doctoral degrees from the University of Maryland.
