Professor elected president of national organization

°­´¡³¢´¡²Ñ´¡´Ü°¿°¿â€”Dr. Karen M. Lancendorfer, a Western ¾ÅÒ»Â鶹ÖÆƬ³§ University associate professor of marketing, has been elected president of the American Academy of Advertising.

Lancendorfer will serve a three-year term, moving from president-elect in 2014 to president in 2015 and past president for 2016. She was elected following the organization's annual conference in the spring and had just completed a one-year term as vice president.

Lancendorfer, director of WMU's advertising and promotion program, is the recipient of the 2011-12 WMU Distinguished Teaching Award and the 2012 Haworth College of Business Service Award. She is faculty advisor for the WMU AdClub, an American Advertising Federation-affiliated student organization, as well as chapter advisor to the Gamma Tau chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity.

A faculty member since 2005, Lancendorfer earned her undergraduate degree at Eastern ¾ÅÒ»Â鶹ÖÆƬ³§ University and went on to earn both master's and doctoral degrees at ¾ÅÒ»Â鶹ÖÆƬ³§ State University. Prior to her academic career, Lancendorfer gained professional experience, spending nearly 20 years in a variety of advertising and marketing positions.

Lancendorfer has served as associate editor for the Journal of Interactive Advertising and now sits on the editorial board. Her current research interests focus on political advertising and corporate image.

American Academy of Advertising

The American Academy of Advertising is a national organization of advertising scholars and professionals with an interest in advertising and advertising education. It publishes the Journal of Advertising, the Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising, the Journal of Interactive Advertising and the Journal of Advertising Education.
