Register by Jan. 12 for faculty learning community.

KALAMAZOO鈥擝uilding on efforts started earlier in 2012, Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University is creating a new Sustainability Across Research and Teaching faculty learning community that will begin in January and run through April 2014.

This new faculty learning community is being created to advance understanding of sustainability and to explore its implications for all disciplines.

Participants will meet once every three weeks for two hours, delve into existing research on common areas of inquiry and then design and pursue individual projects to promote sustainability in the curriculum. They will be encouraged to develop new sustainability-oriented courses, revise existing courses and apply for grants.

Space is limited, so interested faculty should register by Saturday, Jan. 12, at wmich.edu/facdev/Programs/Communities.html.

The latest program, called StART-II, builds on one of the central recommendations of a program run earlier in 2012, StART-I. That program was comprised of 42 faculty from all seven academic colleges to create more ongoing sustainability-oriented faculty development opportunities.
