Upcoming art exhibit chronicles transcontinental travel
KALAMAZOO鈥擜n exhibition by Sarah Nemire, BFA, art education, will be on display at the Richmond Center for Visual Arts, DeVries Student Art Gallery, at Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University.
鈥淩hetoric & Reality: a Journey from Kalamazoo, 九一麻豆制片厂 to Dakar, Senegal in Metals and Photography,鈥 opens on Monday, Oct. 29, and runs through Friday, Nov. 2. A closing with a reception will be held during Art Hop from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2.
The works in the exhibit reveal a journey that begins with an exploration of the physical and social space of Kalamazoo, Mich., and leads across the globe to Dakar, Senegal, in West Africa. These works investigate the intersections between globalization, space, place, art, neoliberalism and resistance, with an emphasis on the changing roles of place and the possibilities within them.
RCVA gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Exhibitions are free and open to the public. Free parking is available.
