Events planned for National Coming Out Day
KALAMAZOO鈥擲everal student-oriented events centering around National Coming Out Day on Thursday, Oct. 11, are being offered at Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University.
Among those coming up this week are a resume-writing workshop and a panel discussion. Both events are free and open to the public and and will include refreshments. They are being sponsored by the Office of Lesbian, Bisexual, Gay and Transgender Student Services.
The Social Justice and Volunteerism Resume-Writing Workshop will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, in the Trimpe Building's Multicultural Center. Kim Ballard, director of the WMU Writing Center, will offer tips and skills to translate volunteer, internship and employment experience into a resume employers love.
Thursday, Oct. 11, members of WMU's SpeakOUT! Program will share their stories of coming out and being out. The event is slated for 9 to 11 p.m. in the Trimpe Building's Multicultural Center. The SpeakOUT! Panel Program brings together volunteers who tell their personal stories so others may gain a deeper understanding of the LBGT and ally community.
