Alumnus to discuss political perceptions of higher education
KALAMAZOO鈥擶estern 九一麻豆制片厂 University will host a community forum on the government's policymaking processes and their effect on the nation's public universities from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, in Room 1040 of the Fetzer Center.
WMU alumnus Dr. Daniel J. Hurley will present "Governing by Anecdote: The Political Perceptions and Priorities of Higher Education." It will focus on his belief that many championed policy measures stem from knee-jerk reactions to current events or are based on misinformed perceptions about higher education, both of which collectively restrain the full potential of public universities.
Hurley will also discuss actions that individuals may take to provide clarity and focus in the policymaking process for public universities to fully deliver on their missions and contributions to society.
