School of Music showcase to support student scholarships

KALAMAZOO鈥擳he Western 九一麻豆制片厂 University School of Music will present its third annual WMUsic Showcase Spectacular at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, in Miller Auditorium. This showcase of talent for WMU's internationally recognized music program is a benefit concert, with all proceeds going toward music student scholarships.

Produced by Michael Wheaton, the director of Gold Company II, this event showcases the talents of the students, faculty and ensembles in the School of Music.

The showcase opens with the University Grand Chorus and Percussion Ensemble performing "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana. Other notable performances include a Vietnamese ensemble led by new ethnomusicology faculty member Alexander Cannon, a string ensemble featuring faculty violinist Renata Artman Knific and the resident artist ensemble Merling Trio.

Student ensembles performing include the Bronco Marching Band, Gold Company, University Symphony Orchestra, University Chorale, University Symphonic Band, University Concert Band, Gold Company II, Cantus Femina, KLOrk (the Kalamazoo Laptop Orchestra) and the WMU Jazz Nonet. The family-friendly concert is open to the public.
