Are there scholarships available?

Yes! A number of scholarships are available for students enrolled in the civil engineering program at Western. We encourage you to apply for all scholarships that match your interests, career goals and financial or academic needs.

What will I do in the civil engineering program?

As a civil engineering major, you will study
  • math
  • general education subjects
  • basic sciences
  • engineering methods, procedures, and management
  • transportation, structures and environmental engineering
You will also develop oral, graphic and written communication skills and learn to work as part of a multidiscipline design team.

Preparation

To enter the civil engineering program you should have completed the following in high school:
  • at least three and a half years of college preparatory mathematics, including trigonometry, and
  • two years of basic science such as physics and chemistry.
You may also prepare to enter the program while at WMU by selecting courses that fulfill these requirements. Transfer credit from other college universities will be granted for courses that satisfy WMU鈥檚 requirement.

Fast track your learning with an accelerated master's

Undergraduate students can access more learning and save time in our accelerated master鈥檚 program. Weave graduate courses (up to 9 credits) into your undergraduate degree in civil engineering from WMU, and earn your B.S. in Engineering and M.S. in civil engineering and choose either a thesis or non-thesis option.
