Bronco Spotlight: Trevor Brody
Financial Advisor at Coe Financial Group
For me, financial planning isn鈥檛 a one-time event; it鈥檚 an ongoing process that requires honest and open conversation. Understanding that no two clients are alike, I believe my responsibility is to craft customized strategies tailored to each client鈥檚 unique needs and circumstances. I enjoy connecting with clients on a personal level and building strong, multi-generational relationships, listening to their concerns and offering ongoing support. As a Wealth Manager with Coe Financial Group, I frequently work with a diverse range of clients, from young families and Millennials to pre-retirees. With more than 12 years of experience in the financial services industry, I am well-versed in comprehensive financial strategies, from college planning to retirement planning to insurance. As an independent advisor, I am focused on making recommendations that have the client鈥檚 best interests in mind.
What is the most rewarding and the most challenging part of your job?
The most rewarding has to be the trust my clients have in me to handle their financial future. Whether it be for a child's college savings, a retirement account or simply being there for when they need me most. The most challenging has to be the market conditions we face on a daily basis, having worked my clients through the '03, '08 and current financial markets.
What experiences impacted the choice of your career path?
I was fortunate enough to work at the Kalamazoo Country Club where my people skills were greatly developed. The ability to meet the members, remember their names, business/jobs and overall networking skills furthered me with the job function I'm in now. I'm constantly meeting people, networking and building relationships. You never know when one simple connection can be your greatest business relationship and lead.
What advice would you offer students to help them decide on a career path?
Stick with what you know or do best. I was confused as to what I wanted to study when in high school and ended up at the Art & Sciences college of WMU. I quickly realized this path for studies wasn't where my focus needed to be and I switched to the business college where I was able to hone my entrepreneurial skills from the many courses taught. Taking classes in marketing, management, finance etc. gave me the necessary skills to be ready once graduation came.
